berry & seaweed smoothie

It's the simple things in life that we often treasure the most. Lately, this summer inspired fruit smoothie packed with antioxidants from berries and Organic Sugar Kelp Flakes has been hitting the spot, both giving us energy as we start the day, or refueling us as we cool us down after a tough afternoon workout. It will not only delight your taste buds but also provide you with a wealth of nutrients and antioxidants.

For good reason, berries are a staple of many healthy diets. They're low in calories but high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and only contain natural sugars. Blueberries, in particular, are an excellent source of antioxidants, which help protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals. Strawberries are a great source of Vitamin C, which is essential for maintaining a healthy immune system.

What sets this smoothie apart is the addition of Sugar Kelp, a Maine native type of seaweed grown off the coast of Maine that is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Sugar Kelp is an excellent source of iodine, which is important for maintaining a healthy thyroid. It also contains iron, calcium, and potassium, making it an excellent ingredient for a healthy and nutritious smoothie.

Enjoy this smoothie with the ingredients listed below or make it heartier by adding oats, protein powder, additional fruits, chia or hemp seeds. Note: if adding more dry ingredients, be sure to offset with more water or a nut milk.

Makes: 16 oz cup 


You'll Need:

1 cup of small ice cubes

1/2 cup of frozen blueberries (or alternate frozen fruit)

1 cup of fresh organic strawberries 

1 tbsp of Organic Sugar Kelp Flakes

3 tbsp of chunky peanut butter 

1/4 tsp cinnamon 

Dash of nutmeg



Add all ingredients into a high powered blender and blend until smooth. 

Adjust flavors as needed.
