3 herbal tea blends using kelp flakes

We believe seaweed is a foundational pillar to human health, providing all of the nutrients we need daily. There are many ways to enjoy the healthful benefits of seaweed through food and drink. One of our favorite and frequent ways is to pair the Organic Seaweed Flake Bundle with herbs we often have in our tea cabinet, to craft herbal tea blends.

We have 3 go-to recipes we use for different needs. We used Sugar Kelp as the seaweed ingredient here but, it's important to note that you could substitute Alaria Flakes in any of these blends and instead of the salty oceanic hints, you'd get a milder more nutty flavor!

Rejuvenate

  • Rose Petals
  • Peppermint
  • Sugar Kelp Flakes

We love making this in the summertime, chilled. It's uplifting and cooling. The perfect midsummer, beach day, lunch drink.

This blend can help with a multitude of things like giving you a boost of energy,  a healthy dose of vitamins & minerals, relieves menstrual cramps, and even supporting digestion. Both rose petals and peppermint are said to aid in upset stomach.

*Add some hibiscus for a little extra tartness. Sweeten with honey or sugar if preferable.

Calming

  • Lavender
  • Chamomile
  • Sugar Kelp Flakes

Perfect for a rainy day book reading, before a slow flow yoga class, or before bed. We will make this tea before hopping into the sauna and doing a Sunday self care routine. We prefer this blend hot, with a spoonful of Swan's Raw Unfiltered Honey made in Maine. And by spoonful, we mean SPOONFUL. Sometimes two. This honey is the best.

Immunity

  • Elderberry
  • Nettles
  • Sugar Kelp Flakes

This is a power packed immune enhancing tea. Best to drink when sick. This one is also delicious hot, with honey, especially for soothing a sore throat or cough. This blend supports the respiratory system, and aids in detox.

We hope these inspire you to create more delicious herbal blends using the many different kinds of ocean vegetables we have available to us.
